The works consisted of the construction of a museum in the disused Kilmainham Jail including the
full fit-out of all displays and replications of the way the jail looked in 1916.Main Features:
The main challenge of this contract was not just to interpret architectural drawings but to recreate
how one of the countries most infamous settings looked at the turn of the century using photographic
records as well as architectural plans.All fit-out was carried out by our own in-house joinery works.
The contract also included the creation of a full exhibition area with interactive display areas. The
Office of Public Works subsequently contracted Murnane & O’Shea to fit-out a ‘touring’ exhibition
based on the Kilmainham Jail fit-out.- Procurement Type:
